Computer will not run if explore.exe is running

The only way I can get my computer to run at all is to find the explorer.exe process and disable it and run any program from the Task manager. I just read the thread about explore.exe but I don't think that is my problem. I'm sure I have a virus of some sort (and adware since any time the desktop is running a million internet explorer windows pop up and I only use Firefox) but I can't figure out what virus or what my exact problem is. I ran a scan disk fixing program for a disk that a friend gave me and it took several hours and normally fixes any problems I have but it didn't work at all. Ugh, so now that you have a whole book on my issue puh-lease help!

I did read that and I'll go do all of it I just thought that since I had already run a big bad clean sweep that it would have been good enough. I'll go try those sweeps but can you think of anything else it may be?

Not quiet enough, follow the steps in the thead mentioned previously and attach the requested logs.

As a reference I will post our initial instructions.

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gifAfter doing ALL of the above and you still have a problem, make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below thread to properly use HijackThis and attach the log:

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around..

CounterSpy Log - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users

AVG Antispyware Log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy. - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users

Bitdefender Log - from step 6

Panda Scan Log - from step 6

runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat

newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat

HijackThis Log

NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!
