Computer will not start in Safe Mode

    I am running Windows XP and I can not start up in safe mode. I am unable to install windows security updates after they download. Can anyone tell me what the problem is?

    I have the same problem with my computer, It will not start in safe mode or normal. The Hard drive is not making any funny noise, but the fan goes on and on.. What can i do..
