    Hi all,

I have an emachines e400i2 and had to replace the hard drive. This computer is ten years old, so I know I should replace it but....

Anyway, the problem I'm having is I put the new hard drive in but when I try to set it up or install the operating system, the computer doesn't read from any of the other drives. I used the Western Digital disk to set up the drive but the computer reads it and says to put in a disk. This happens with the original Emachines boot CD as well. When I restart the computer, it looks at the CD drives and the floppy drive but doesn't see anything. The BIOS lists all the drives, including the new hard drive, so I know the computer recognizes them. They are all enabled, they all light up when it reads them.

The only thing that shows on the screen is that it's looking for the boot record on all the drives but never finds anything. I've tried a valid windows 98 boot disk and a madboot disk as well. No luck.

    Any Ideas?:confused

    Thanks in advance
