computer won't reboot without hard cycle

    Recently my machine has taken it upon itself to not start back up when I resume it from sleep or when I shut it down and power it up normally. All the fans start up properly but I get no video signal, no bios or anything.

    The only way I can get it to boot properly now is to turn off and on the power supply itself.

    I'll provide specs and info if requested.

    Hi

    Did you build this PC yourself or have it made, if so how long ago and if build for you is there a warranty still within date? if build yourself then try the below options.

    Would you have a spare graphics card that you could try in the PCI-E slot, or take out the graphics card you have in and run via the on-board graphics solution, this may rule out your graphics card as the issue.

    As you mention the PSU, do you have a spare one of those to try?

    Check and reseat the internal cables etc as in PSU to motherboard, HDDs and front panel, check that nothings loose inside the case like a errant screw that could be causing a short.

    I n xp there was abit of a problem with hibernation being enabled that froze the pc/laptop, after hibernating, as yours appears to do.
    Perhaps disabling sleep mode is worth trying,to see if that is causing a similar problem in WINDOWS 7
    HAVE YOU DONE YOUR HOUSEKEEPING LATELY- AEROSOL TO SHIFT DUST AND FLUFF?

    I always keep my machine dust free. I am going to try reseating everything and let you guys know if that gets me anywhere.

    I dunno if it makes a difference but it won't reboot or resume until I shut off the power supply when it's already booted (or trying to boot back up that is).

    If I turn it off and then turn the power supply off and on before trying to boot back up, it will still not boot up normally.
