My computer has been "zoning out" far more than normal. I don't know what else to call it. It's like it goes into stand by mode, but I don't tell it to go into stand by mode. And it's not quite standby mode.

The screen goes black (but lit) and the computer becomes unresponsive. It will not go back to Windows. A mouse cursor is not visible. If I'm playing audio at the time of "zoning out", the audio becomes a screech.

It used to do this only if was unattended for a long time for as I long as I had this computer, and sometimes not even then. I would have to unplug the laptop and take out the battery, reinsert the battery and plug in the charger and then power up. Now, it's zoning out during startup to the point I have to unplug my computer and take out the battery five or six times before it successfully loads and I can use it for more than 15 seconds straight.

I had Kryptik and Alureon on my computer, but that was removed. Also when starting up, I sometimes get warnings that entry points to dll processes are non-existant, but they are rarely the same entry points.

    Thank you for your help.

It sounds like your having some serious problems...

The first thing i would do is boot into safe mode and see how it acts ther...

    To get into safemode,

Tap "F8" as your computer boots up.

and you should get a menu with "safemode" as an option.

That works, but when in normal mode it doesn't work as much. Sometimes, I can boot up and there'll be no problems. Then, there's a spat where the computer will refuse to work at all.

If xp and you have your system disc, one thing to try is "start" "run" then in the run window type "sfc /scannow" this will probably take a while as its checking the system files to make sure they are ok. If your not 100% postive that your system has had all the malware removed, you may also want to try the malware forum for support on that side of the problem.
