Conflicker conflict?

Hello group, I'm new to the forum and am having trouble similar to those with the conflicker 'syndrome'. Firefox will frequently crash, due to a problem with the Flash player. I have disabled flash and firefox browses without crashing.

I am also restricted access from a few sites, notably mcafee.com and bleepingcomputer.com. I am also unable to update SUPERAntiSpyware, and McAfee as well. I have since removed McAfee from my system and am now running Avast.

As per the forum recommendations, I have followed though with the XP cleaning procedures and I have attached the corresponding logs. The only problem I had while following the cleaning instructions was with ComboFix. As I stated earlier, I was unable to access the bleepingcomputer site, so I did not have access to the instructions. Rather than running it incorrectly, I did not run it at all.

I have also installed and run Stinger from McAfee, (via an linked site) as well as FixDownadup from Norton. Each do not find any conflicker strains.

Please let me know what other information I need to provide. Thanks!!

    Hi there

FYI: You do not have a Conficker infection.

    1) Please put your machine into normal start up mode as requested per step 1 of the R&R before we continue.

    2) Now go to this MGTools and download the new version of MGtools.exe. Overwrite your previous MGtools.exe file with this one.

    3) Attach the mglogs.zip that it generates, retrievable at: C:\mglogs.zip

You need to put this PC into NORMAL start up mode before we continue with any of the below. You definately should not be using MSconfig to disable anything! I asked you do do this in the last message and the READ & RUN ME also requested this but you still have services disabled.

    1) Please go to Add or Remove Programs and un-install the following older versions of Java software:

    • Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2
    • Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_04
    • J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 10
    • J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11
    • Java(TM) 6 Update 3
    • Java(TM) 6 Update 5

    2) Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

NOTE: HJT may popup an error about the AppInit_DLLs line. Ignore it and click OK to continue.

    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

    3) Now download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop. We need to get shot of some Symantec and Rising Anti-Virus remnants, kill off a couple dead BHO's and remove some malware files.

    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Do not change any check box options!!
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:
    • Now click the Execute button.
    • Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    • Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    • Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.

    4) Also delete all files in the below folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).

    • C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
    • C:\Documents and Settings\Trever Good\Local Settings\TEMP

    5) Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Avenger.

    6) Let us know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now.

Sorry! I mistakenly understood Normal Mode to mean "not in Safe Mode".

I have made the change and provided the logs as requested. The only thing I was not able to do was find the following line: O2 - BHO: (no name) - {761497BB-D6F0-462C-B6EB-D4DAF1D92D43} - (no file) It wasn't listed in the analysis.exe scan I am now able to update my Spyware and Adware programs, which I wasn't able to do previously. Firefox has run well also, and I am now able to access sites I was previously unable to, such as Mcafee.com. THANK YOU!!!

    Hi

    1. Now we need to use avenger again.
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Do not change any check box options!!
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:
    Now click the Execute button.

    2. Do actually use the iWin Games? If not, I suggest removing them. It may not show in Add/Remove programs so please uninstall it if you don't bother with it.

    3. Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Avenger.

    4. Let us know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now.

    Thanks
    Kes

Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

    Thanks
    Kes

Excellent! :) Your logs are clean!

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommed you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
      • Delete the C:\combofix folder from combofix (if it exists)
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    7. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
