Confused new Vista user having trouble with Flash

We received our new computer today with Vista on it. It has IE 7.

We discovered that our pc would not play videos nor access sites which used flash.
After checking to see that Java was on, I ran Windows Update and installed the new Flash player (or so I thought).
The Flash player still does not work. I still cannot play videos online nor access websites that use flash.
The error message on Adobe says the Flash Player is not supported on a 64-bit operating system, but it can run on a 32-bit browser on a 64-bit system.

What can I do about this? If a 32-bit browser is the solution, where is the best site to get one? What do you recommend?

Vista 64-bit has to have both 32 and 64-bit IE installed, you should be able to see a shortcut to 32-bit IE somewhere in the menu. But I think that 32-bit version should be a default one, have you checked the "About Internet Explorer" box, does it say that it is "64-bit Edition" there?

Or you can use 32-bit Firefox.

I too have this problem with new desktop PC that has Vista.

I check the version in the ""About Internet Explorer" box and it said 64 bit Edition.

How can I change from 64-bit to 32-bit IE7....?

I will look it up when I get home tonight and see if a short cut for IE7 32-bit version is available.

 

32-bit should be found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
64-bit: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
