   when i start my comp hp 742c with windows xp
   it freezes up just before the log in screen and the keyboard is locked/frozen up
   i can start with the installation disk but when it says press any key to continue i cant
   
   is there anything i can try to get on

   Hi
   
   Can you boot into Safe Mode (F8 at boot and choose Safe Mode with Netowrking)?
   
   Try a different keyboard if you have a spare, or borrow one to test if its the keyboard at fault or Software?

   i managed to get into the msdos it took over 20 trys so i guess the keyboard works anything i can from the ms screen
