I've got a question i hope someone can help with.

i recently bought a psu to replace the one that came with my rig. the psu i bought has on/off switch on it. I want to be able to turn off the psu with the power button on the rig. When i connect everything and turn on the psu nothing happens, and when i press the power button nothing happens. The psu i have is new and has nothing wrong with it.

    i have a ECS MCP61-P AM2 Motherboard, here is a link

i haven't been able to find the motherboard book online. anyone have any insights? Do i have to set a jumper in order to use the power button on my rig?

Umm, not to sound condescending but is your power supply on in the first place? I mean, the 'I' part is pushed in. Other than that, perhaps you loosened a front panel connection to your motherboard?

Just curious, why do you even want to turn off the PSU? When you shutdown your machine, the PSU shuts down with it and when you turn your machine on the PSU does the same. Or, are you just trying to turn your machine on and off using only the on\off switch on the PSU? If so, that isn't going to work!! No, there are no jumpers to set in order to get your on\off switch to function. It is connected directly to the MB. However, one possibility is that when you were installing the new PSU, you could have disconnected the plug that controls the on\off switch accidently while you were connecting the PSU cables. One other possibility, is the PSU even turned on?

roflmao Well, my friend, you are NOT insignificant!! We all make mistakes and just when we think we're getting the 'hang of it', they change something and it's back to square one!!:-D Anyhow, I'm glad you got it squared away and the next time you'll know what too do....unless they change it again!!!

yea, reminds me of the time i went to bestbuy to buy a graphics card. To let you know how long i've been out the loop, when the guy asked me if i had a pci-express slot i was dumfounded, :-D. I wound up getting the ati 9250 for the pci bus.

Then i found out how underpowered the regular pci is, compared to the agp port and pci express..wow, i new i was outta the swing of things then
