Connect to internet but cannot browse interent

I am new to this site and not sure on how I can post myself..I am having bascially the same problem, connected to wireless network at my home but cannot browse internet it goes into a indefinite loop and does not load. I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 running Vista OS. Everything was fine up until a 3 months ago and then I could no longer access internet. Nothing has changed or added. I have called Dell...USELESS. because I bought my laptop at Best Buy I was told to bring it there as it is still under warranty and Dell. So I bring it to Best Buy to the Geek Squad THREE times and they were unable to find the problem. So I call Dell again and after telling them I have been to Best Buy 3 times..again told to bring it back the Geek Squad to fix as they cannot help because of the contract between Dell and Best Buy. I have done searching on my own and did all the PIngs and things but still NO internet. Get the ISATAP adapter with exclamation mark, MS says this can be ignored. This is really way beyond frustrating and wondering if there is a SIMPLE solution to this! PLEASE it has been 3 months. I am using my Sprint air card right now to use interent.

Sounds like Winsock2 may be corrupt. Maybe have a look at this and see if it helps. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811259

 

I hope the fix holiday gave you works, but if not you need to insist that Best Buy and or Dell honors the warranty for your laptop. Back up your important data to a dvd just in case they want you to send it to Dell. You have a new laptop there is no reason you should settle for substandard service or merchandise.

 

Thank you both for responding. Just to clarify Holiday that I am using windows vista home the site you sent says about XP. Can I use the same method with the Vista CD? I am very frustrated with both Dell and Best Buy. But if what Holiday suggests does not work I will be bringing it to Best Buy. Thank you

 

Hi Holiday...I did the winsock reset in the cmd prompt. I tired using the wireless connection to use browser I was able to open my bank information but unable to open anything else not even my yahoo messenger or email it goes into an infinite loop. I did the component check, adpater copied on here on my results

If you type "cmd" from the start menu in windows you can then issue the "ipconfig /all" command that will name your current adapters and their settings. The wireless info would be handy. In the end it could be a problem on your machine or it could be on the router itself...as in your connection being filtered for some reason.

As an extreme paranoid side note, considering you have no access to the router there's always the opportunity for the landlord to view traffic on their router when people are using it. Your situation would make me very uneasy. For home Internet I don't share when I do not have administrator access to ALL the routers between me and the ISP's modem. I mention this because of programs like Webspy that can be configured to clone every click you make on the net and display it on a remote machine's monitor.

It is a NetGear Router that when I first checked think it was the router I was able to browse connected with the hard wire. IP Config this is what I get. This is using my aircard not sure if that makes difference I have one Medium malware alert. No worries on landlords they are good people thanks for the concern . I am pretty puter literate it is just getting around this stuff that has exhausted me trying to find a solution.

Still cannot use browser connected with wireless
