    Hello,
I am looking for a way to connect my 1.8" pcie pata ssd (Stec 8gb ssd) to my laptop. Does anyone know of an enclosure or a cable I can use? Do I need to convert from pata to sata first? Any suggestions on a work around will help as well.

    Thanks

Hi, thanks for the video but that is for a SATA drive. I have a PATA drive. I don't think that will work. Are SATA and PATA the same thing? Can anyone suggest other terms I can search by? I have tried 1.8" pata drive enclosure, pcie SSD adapter, PATA to SATA adapter, etc. I am not sure if there is another way to describe the SSD.

Have you tried the manufacturer's site for any info?

It's from a Dell Mini 9, earlier discussion here.

    Thanks for enlightening me!

For data recovery which seems to be the op's objective, I would personally give the mSATA to USB adapter a shot.

I'm almost 100% sure it's not an mSATA -compatible device, Wiki:
Crucial: "Drive form factor: Half Mini PCIe".

Might be some useful info on the 'fan' sites, eg.: http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=19

Mechanically it's probably fine, as would both WWAN and WLAN cards, electrically not suitable, data traces would have different functions or there'd be a 'three/four-in-one' self-sensing/switching device?

There used to be a Bios patch for the Dell Mini 9 that re-enabled the 'dead' drives... finding it - and the full info - might take some time.

I've learnt something new today! Thankfully, this is an academic exercise for us all, except the op. Good luck to him...

    Hello everyone,
Thanks for your suggestions. I will research the bios patch while I search for a Runcore 70mm/50mm Pata/sata enclosure. Hope there is one for sale. Any other suggestions on how to retrieve data from a SSD that is showing 0gb?
