I'm trying to connect my laptop computer with my desktop computer through a dlink-624 router. Both computers can access the internet just fine but they can't access each other for file sharing. I've already set up the folders on each computer for file sharing and I've already setup the software firewall on each computer properly. I've even disabled the firewall on each computer temporarily just to make sure and they still can't connect to each other. I found the problem to be the desktop computer. I brought a second laptop and hooked it up wirelessly and it was able to communicate with the other laptop fine but couldn't find the desktop at all. The OS for the PCs is windows xp. I believe I did everything right on the desktop computer, so I have no idea what's going on. If anyone can give me any suggestions that would be great. Thank you very much!

sure wish you would post the type of internet connection.

    dsl. satellite etc.

    the pc is the host.
    set to 192.168.0.1
the router probably is set to that host number.
    change it to
    192.168.1.1
let the wireless adapters dns on the lappers go automatically.
the pc needs a name, each lapper needs a diff name, all in the same workgroup.
