Connection Issues with Kryptik and Aleuron

    My computer's internet is down entirely, and it is the computer. I've tried hooking it up to two different broadband lines with a cable (mine and someone else's whom I've used once before). I've tried two other wireless networks that it has previously successfully connected to before (within 6 weeks). Every single time I connect with a cable, the connection wizard says it is sending and receiving information, but when I go into Firefox or IE, it says the connection was reset as I was connecting. It says this everytime I try to get to any webpage.

    ESET NOD32 detected multiple variants of Kryptik, about 25 copies of Kryptik I would estimate. I deleted them from quarantine before I counted. SuperAntiVirus (the first AV in your ReadMe process) detected 5 copies of Aleuron.

    Did the Read Me process. Files attached.

    My problems with the Read Me process:

    MBAM didn't work: I had a version from before that I suspect may have been infected. I uninstalled it, used the mbam-clean tool then reinstalled it from a CD, which I used for all the programs the Read Me said I needed. I had installed MBAM on the other computer, updated it and burned that version onto the CD. Even though I renamed it, there still was a run time error '0' and then immediately after a runtime error 440. I use MBAM frequently, but it hasn't done this before.

    ComboFix: I didn't have the Recovery Console installed and had no internet connection, so I ran it without the recovery console.

    Everything else ran smoothly.

    Hi, I was wondering if any progress had been made. I tried restoring the connection with SAS, which worked for about two seconds and then the connection started to reset over and over again. Thanks!

    • C:\Documents and Settings\Suzanne Hart\Desktop\6.exe <--- This is combofix renamed..? Correct?
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\7.sys <--- So what is this??
    • C:\Documents and Settings\Suzanne Hart\Desktop\8.exe <--- What's this?

    You need to tell me what all the below files and folders are too!
    • C:\Documents and Settings\Suzanne Hart\Desktop\1
    • C:\Documents and Settings\Suzanne Hart\Desktop\2.exe
    • C:\Documents and Settings\Suzanne Hart\Desktop\3.exe
    • C:\Documents and Settings\Suzanne Hart\Desktop\4.exe
    • C:\Documents and Settings\Suzanne Hart\Desktop\5
    • C:\Documents and Settings\Suzanne Hart\Desktop\7

    If you did not deliberately set this proxy yourself then please include it in the HJT fix below:

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

    Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    Driver::
    xybfnmy
    File::
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\dwrfw.sys
    Registry::
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\security center\Monitoring\SymantecAntiVirus]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\security center\Monitoring\SymantecFirewall]

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

      http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

    Answer all my questions, and tell me how things are running.

    I numbered the Read me programs in the order I had to use them.

    1 = CCleaner folder
    2 = mb-clean.exe
    3 = Defogger program
    4 = SAS Setup
    5 = MBAM folder
    6 = Combo Fix file
    7 = Root Repeal folder: I also labeled the Root Repeal file 7, so the 7.sys, I think, may be related to that :confused (???????????).
    8 = MGTools program

    Events in the order they happened:
    Some time around the time I was in Hijack this, the internet came on. I ran ComboFix, when it updated itself and downloaded the recovery console. After Combofix finished all 50 stages, the computer restarted itself, Combofix came on to issue its log, but so did my ESET NOD32 AV, which comes on automatically upon booting up the computer. I had temporarily disabled it before I started Hijack this and Combofix.

    ESET stalled out Combofix and prevented it from issuing a log. For 10 glorious minutes, the Internet did work, then the computer "zoned out", which it has been doing every so often for almost as long as I had it... 2-3 years - it never interfered with anything before. I was away from the computer when it happened. By zoning out, I mean the screen went black (the screen is lit and colored black, but it's not a screensaver) and nothing can bring it back to Windows. It typically happens when the computer isn't doing anything, but one time when I was using Youtube, it did zone out and the Youtube audio just became this screech.

    So, I have to pull out the cord and the battery. I did that and the computer came back on, but no wireless internet. Undeterred I ran Combofix again, got a log (which I have attached) and the GetLogs function (log also attached). The wireless internet is still down. On the bright side, I can now use the thumb drive at the same time as my USB mouse, which was not the case at any time before. MBAM still doesn't work (when I open it, it posts error 0 then error 440 immediately after).

    As I was finishing writing up this post, the wireless has been coming in and out, which is rather strange as it is literally 2 feet away from the router. The signal strength is either "excellent" or non-existant ("not connected"). The signal lasts for about 2-5 minutes then disconnects for 2-5 minutes. The computer is generally working much faster than before.

    Thanks a ton for helping me. :)

    Don't forget to rename all the tools back to their proper names ;)

    Your logs are clean. Any issues you have with your internet connection can be further discussed in the software forum.

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
      related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
        for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
