    Hello,

I have Time Warner cable and also am using my own router, a WNR2000v3. It seems for awhile I have been having problems staying connected for long periods of time. Nothing goes off on either the router or cable modem, but anything that is not using the modem constantly well drop connection. I just had such an occurrence occur where my friend is playing on our PlayStation 3 which is connected wireless to the same router that my computer is hooked to, when i lose connection I can't surf but he is still connected to his game, and if I was also playing a game on my computer such as World of Warcraft I am also able to still play but cannot surf the web till a few minutes later when the connections comes back. Any help in this matter would be appreciated.

It is possible that the wifi radio in your laptop either needs a driver update, or it is going bad. How long have you had the laptop, and what OS is it running? You could get a new USB wifi stick and try that.

Also, where is your router located in relation to the laptop? Is it in the same room, or on a different floor. If you are running Windows, you can download the inSSIDer tool from metageek.net and look at the signal db for your router, and post that info back.
