    Hi,

I recently bought a new hard drive, 200GB, had problems getting windows to see more than 128GB, people here responded, helped, I reinstalled windows XP prof. with a service pack 2 and it all slowly became ok.

The consequent problem is that some of my games started running extremely slow. Example: UFO Aftermath was running absolutely no problem on my PC, now has a trouble even loading the startup movie. Not playable anymore.

I haven't changed any other settings, just reinstalled windows and copied a bunch of files (songs, movies) from the smaller drive to the larger one.

PC has lots of hard memory + 5XX RAM. I don't know what other details, but everything was more or less ok before and now stuff is slower, especially games.

    Anyone have any ideas?
Thank you very much for helping.

If you've re-installed XP ( SP2 ) then have you also Installed your........

    Motherboard chipset drivers
Latest updated GFX card drivers ( from manufacturer not from windows update )
    Defragged
    Installed any game updates

You need to download motherboard drivers, audio and video drivers too, download free program like Everest home edition to determine what you have and need.

hi again, thanks for this feedback.

I went and found the CD which I got when I bought the PC and even though it said all drivers installed, I installed them again. (some chipset thing and divx 9.0 and something else). Then I went to GeForce website and downloaded the driver for XP and installed that (but i didnt uninstall previous driver cause i dont know which is which and was afraid that i'd end up with nothing).

At the end of it, I tried launching the game UFO: AM again and this time it launched ok, showed the video properly, maybe a bit slow on the load/save, but ok...

I would like to ask if i install some drivers things and the PC got faster or better, is there more of this kind of stuff i can install to take the maximum potential of the PC? Its a pentium 4, 2.3 and works like a turtle.

e.g. IE loads slow, games could/should be much faster, things take time, 20-30 system processes in the task list + 5-10 user processes already take up a bunch of memory before even doing anything.

    thanks again!!!
