I'm running Windows XP SP3. I use Google Chrome and Google as a home page. I constantly have problems and have no idea where they come from. AND, they're not always the same problem. I get the blue screen of death for no reason. Google crashes frequently. Outlook crashes, MS Word crashes. I frequently get: "Google (or Microsoft, or Outlook, etc), has encountered a problem and needs to close". Two minutes ago, Google encountered a problem due to Adobe Shockwave Flash crashing (happens often). Even if I use IE and MSN as a home page, I still get crashes. Yesterday, I turned on the computer and as soon as it got to my desktop, I got: "MS encountered a generic Win32 problem and needs to close". Some days are worse than others, but I usually have at least 1 - 2 issues per day. After reaching "my limit" a few weeks ago, I decided to reformat my hard drive and do a clean install of Windows, all updates, MS Office 2007, Adobe, Java, etc. I still have these issues!

All my software updates and drivers are kept current. My antivirus is updated daily. The registry is clean. Cookies and temp files are cleaned. I defrag weekly. Since there isn't any pattern or common denominator to my problems, I'm stumped.

I followed all your malware removal instructions to the letter and still have problems. A few problems were found on a backup (D) drive, but none on my C drive. I've scanned my computer with AVG, Trend Micro, Norton, Bit Defender and they didn't find anything. The only problem I had with your instructions was with RootRepeal. As soon as I click the "scan" button, the computer reboots. I reinstalled it. Tried it several times and the same thing happens. I checked for Rootkits with BitDefender and it found nothing.

Please let me know what to try next. Thank you!

I'm sorry but you are not having malware problems. Your logs are all clean. I suggest that you work in the Software Forum to try and resolve your problems.

Since you are not having malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    7. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
