    OK Folks,

Always get good advice from you folks, and it is much appreciated.

I am looking to replace my system. I am thinking of a budget of £1000 - £1500

I have a rough idea of what I am after but need your help filling in the blanks, please?

Usage is for 3D Graphics programs and secondary use for gaming.

I favour the following basics, subject to concensus ;) :D

AMD Dual Core, running XP Pro 64, 2 substantial internal hard-drives.

Do I go for 2x mid range cards or one banging one? confused

    Open for any input.

    TIA

    Klutz. :cool

With your budget, you could probably go SLI/Crossfire with 2 fairly high end cards, dual 750gb HD's, 4gb RAM (maybe even 8gb???).... you'll rock the block!

    Thanks for that.

    Anyone else any input, please?

I agree, but you might be able to manage 1tb Hdd's, and some neat-o Neon Lights! Check out Ibuypower or Tiger Direct

    For EXTEMELY good deals...

And no, I do NOT work for them, nor am I intentionally advertizing, I just got a good deal from there recently!

Edit: Also, I'd try vista, and deal with the 3-6 months of bugfixes.

Aye, thanks for that info. I'll check it out.

The 3D Graphics program I use doesn't get on with Vista, so I bought The XPPro 64 to install when I get the new system. ;)

    Core 2 Duo e6700
2-3 gigs of RAM (or 4 if u really want it, take advantage of theextra RAM you can use in 64 bit XP)
XFX makes some pretty good SLI motherboards, so do ASUS and eVGA
1 8800GTX should be plenty, add another later if u need it
X-Fi soundcard, any will be good depending on what you need/want it to do
    2 Seagate 750gig HDDs
700W or more OCZ, Antec, or Zalman PSU

that should be in your price range, about $2000-3000 USD?

    i suggest...

    74gb raptor sata boot
    1tb sata storage..
    4gb ram
    sli 8800gtx

    i think thats it..

lol thats like all of his money right there

    $1000: 8800GTX SLI
    $400-500: 74gig raptor+1tb other HDDs
$300-400: 4gb RAM (depending on brand)

thats almost $2000 right there, or around 1000 pounds, 1 8800GTX would be enough and would cut down that significantly
