    Hi,
I have read thread started by "jimpeel" and followed the beginning of the procedure. Unfortunately "Contect Menu Platinum" -unregisterred version - appears again when I want to close Skype by closing down the icon on the bottom toolbar and I have to close program by using "windows task manager" (do not know, hope, name is correct in English). Thus attaching gained log files.
    Thanks for help in advance
    Ejemmila

Uninstall the below programs. If you do not find them or they will not uninstall, just keep going.
    Java(TM) 6 Update 22

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win 7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = https://vis.cvf.cz/
    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {4DA729A4-684A-4034-A45B-6D56CEAAE92B} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {15da6705-4bfa-47c3-95fa-955b71d8f9e1} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {9030D464-4C02-4ABF-8ECC-5164760863C6} - (no file)

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Search Settings] C:\Program Files (x86)\SearchSettings\SearchSettings.exe

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Please download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
    • Run OTM.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7 or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).
    • Copy the lines from the below codebox to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C
(or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy): Do not include the word Code: which is just a title line of

    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar
      ) and choose Paste.
    • Now click the large http://forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang/images/MoveIt!.png button.
    • If OTM asks to reboot your computer, allow it to do so. The report should appear in Notepad after the reboot.
    • Close OTM.
Now navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder ( assuming your Windows drive is C). This is where your log will be
saved in the form of Date and Time mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log. Just look for the most recent .log file. Attach
this log file to your next message.

Now please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Note: That JRT may reset your home page to a google default so you will need to restore your home page setting if this happens.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.
Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7 or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    Dear chaslang:

Ran the entire procedure, as you proposed. Attached you are receiving requested logs.

Sorry, but "Context Menu Platinum" with Skype seems to be very well covered and persistent. Unfortunately it behaved after procedure the same way as before, simply when a I want to close the program by clicking on the icon in bottom toolbar, the "CMP" starts its 90 s show.

If you can propose any other help, will be very appreciated

Is this the only time you see it?

I see the below folder on your PC:
    Code:
    d-----w 0 2013-09-15 10:27:40 C:\ProgramData\FILEminimizer
This program is know to be the cause of this problem. Do you see FILEminimizer in the installed programs list to uninstall? If you do then uninstall it. If you don't see this then look directly in each of the below folders ( one at a time ). Do you see a file named uninstall.exe

    C:\ProgramData
    C:\Program Files (x86)
    C:\Program Files
    C:\ProgramData\FILEminimizer

Look directly in the above folders not in sub folders.

There is a folder for Context Menu Platinum on your PC and for FILEminimizer that we will delete later but first we need to see if there is a hidden uninstall.exe.

    Also work thru the below.

Please download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
    • Run OTM.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, Win7 or Win8, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Dear Chaslang.
just finished all, what you have proposed. And requested files will be attached.

    But first things first:
    To your questions:

Yes, I experience "Content Menu Platinum"-unregistered version in connection with exiting Skype only.

I did not find file "uninstall.exe" in any of proposed folders. Folder c/programdata/FILEminimizer/ contained before and contains after procedures files according to the attachment.

Okay then let's see if the below can resolve this.

Uninstall Skype then reboot your PC.

After reboot, delete the below folder. Make sure you delete all of them before trying to reinstall Skype.

Now reinstall Skype which you can get here >> Skype

    Did that resolve the problem?

    Dear Chaslang,
thanks for answer, however, sorry to press you: in your last message you asked me to - after unistalling Skype and rebooting computer - to delete a folder to be given below. However now such folder was mentioned below. Pls., look at your message once again.

Sorry about that. Delete the below folders:

    C:\ProgramData\Skype
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype
    C:\Users\Miloslav\AppData\Local\Temp\Skype

    Dear Chaslang,
sorry for keeping bothering you. But as I said before, Context Menu Platinum in my computer is very persistent and in spite of doing all what you recommended, after reinstalling Skype it occurred again.
Previously deleted folders are in same places as before, but maybe their content seems me different - sorry I did not backed up the previous.

Once more, if you can find yet some other method to remove "Cont.MenuPlat.", I will be very gratefull

Where did you get Skype from? Odds are very high that you are installing it with Skype. The below folder is seen in your logs:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\ProgramyStazenePro_ContMenuPlat

It mentions ContMenuPlat and a search on this ProgramuStazenePro also turns up Skype. Are you installing some hacked/pirated version of Skype?

Also uninstall the below which has been linked to this program:

    Movie Subtitles Searcher 1.0

    Any change ?

If not, download and run ShellExView does Context Menu Platinum show in here? Are any items showing with question marks?

    Dear Chaslang:

I have downloaded Skype from the site mentioned in you post - which was, I think, "author's site".

The folder "ProgramyStazenePro_ContMenuPlat" contains collection of programs/downloads recommended by you to apply in previous steps of the effort to eliminate the program "ContMenuPlat". I did it with the intention, not to be obliged to download them once more if needed in some successive steps. I just theorize, can some of them include something wrong, I shall delete them, if it is correct.

The name of the folder in Czech language means "ProgramsDownloadedFor" - it is just my name to know what is inside.

    Regards

    Ejemmila

    Dear Chaslang:

    YOU WON!

And sorry for my impatience with your last post - I have just overlooked the end of the message, but now: after unistalling Movie Subtitle Searcher all went to old way of work - when I wan to finish Skype I just rightclick and select exit (hopefully it is "exit", I have Czech version) and Skype finishes.

I am happy not only because of exiting Skype correctly, but because I have read somewhere that Concept Menu Platinum may work also somehow like phishing or Trojan virus. So now I am quiet in this matter, too.

    Once more thanks

    Excellent news! You're welcome.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. If you are running Win 8, Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below to flush restore points:
      • Refer to the instructions for your WIndows version in this link: Disable And Enable System Restore
      • What we want you to do is to first disable System Restore to flush restore points some of which could be infected.
      • Then we want you to Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
