I have a Samsung Notebook RC530 with 6GB memory which has an ongoing problem of hanging. It got so bad I formatted to try and sort things out but it is still as bad. I can take several seconds (seems a lifetime) and even minutes for some web pages to open and sometimes you cannot stop the loading. PDF files can take what seems hours to load. It can freeze the computer and the only way to restart is to press the power button. Some days I have to do a clean up several times to remove the temporary files. I always remove temporary files before shutting down at night.
I hope someone can help please.

    Windows 7
    IE 9
    6GM Ram
    2GB Video card

    Thanks

Thanks Mate, will give it a go, but I do notice it is shareware. Any chance of a free one?

    Cheers

Yes, there are plenty of S.M.A.R.T. utilities. Windows 7 event log will tell you what is going on. Doubt that the hard drive is the issue, more like Windows 7 itself.

Thanks guys for your help. Not cured the problem though. I have been told that it is probably a Windows 7 problem and will try using the Mozilla OS for a few days.

Hi, my emails say I have a reply from lexander, but it is not shown on my post. He suggests I reinstall windows 7 - I am not sure what is meant by that as I thought reinstalling meant formatting. How do I reinstall Windows 7 without formatting. I have no disks but a recovery drive on the Samsung.
    Thanks

Make a set of Restore CD's with the utility that should be under the "Maintenance" or "Disk Utilities" directory in the Start menu. You will need at least 3 DVD's when you create the master set.
