I started part one to this thread two weeks ago. My cousin was in an car wreck and rolled 40 feet or so onto a rock beach. He was in a coma until last friday.
So now he is awake, he is eating basically baby food, until yesterday. He thinks Carotts are chicken:eek: , he really does. When he first woke he was quite violent and was strapped down as a result, wich didnt help his mood. I suppose things are becoming clearer for him now considering when he woke.
The Docs are calling it a mild brain damage which they hope he can recover. We all get a little booklet that helps us cope(probably for insurance reasons).
So far stuff is coming back fast, even if it is a little garbled. I think he's gonna be ok :).
Didn't want to be depressing just had to get it out is all.
Trevor (17) should be home by friday if all is well and he's drinking water on his own. so they say:D
PS. Accident was caused by a mid 40's woman drinkin and driving a newer mercedes. Her foot is sore!

Glad he's coming back Jaz. Brain damage is the scariest. Not all damage has "happy ever after" endings, but it's amazing what the human body can recover from. :)

It's hard, I'm still dealing with my brothers death in a car wreck, and that was 7 years ago. Hang in there and remember the good times, and don't let the bitterness towards that woman take over. If you have any faith lean on it, hard, it helps.

I'm so sorry to hear about Kevin. Must have been even more difficult news after hearing that things were looking so good.

Anger is a normal part of the grieving process. Plus, anger at drunk drivers getting off lightly is understandable, Mercedes or no Mercedes. We take drunk driving far too lightly.

Take care Jaz, and try to remember the good times, not how you lost him. That will be pretty tough at first, and for a long time, but time does heal all wounds, or at least lets them scab over to where you're not bleeding.

My deepest condolences for your loss Jazagod.....

I know that when my kids reach driving age, its going to be much harder to get a good nights sleep!

I also have no doubt that your a proud, strong man who will deal with this as you know best.....Never feel shame, its OK to cry and its therapeutic!

    All my best!

So sorry to hear of your sad loss, Jazza :(. Just try to think of good times and how blessed you and others were to have at least experienced Kevin.

Life’s a series of journeys, and sometimes people we love get their journey cut short. That's why we need to enjoy the ride every day, as life itself is a gift, i.m.o.

A profound sense of loss and anger, as well as many other things will go through your mind, but time is a great healer. Like physical injuries, emotional/spiritual ones don't alway fully heal, but we do learn to live with the scars.

Don't let yourself also become and emotional/physiological victim of the drunk driver. Hate doesn't hurt the hated, but the hater. Easier said than done, I know.

Lost my mom due to a drunk driver when I was very young, also damn nearly my wife after we were married and left disabled for life, the cost of which on many levels, I'm still paying for to this day. Yup life can be brutal at times.

Just remember a trouble shared does make the hurt a lot easier, and as long as you have at least one pair of ears to genuinely listen, you at least don't have to do it alone.

    Take Care.
