    Hello,
I am fairly comfortable with computers, but baffled by video editing... i have a DVD with several files on it from a DVD camcorder... i have figured out that the giant .vob file is actually the video I want to upload to YouTube, but it's too long and I need to cut 1 minute off of it... I have copied the files onto my hardrive.. I used Super to convert the one .vob file to mpeg II... I can play the new mpeg in Windows Media Player and Win DVD... but when I try to import it into Windows Movie Maker to edit the length, it says the "file is empty"... I know it's not empty becasue I can play it by double-clicking on it, but how can I edit it? I assume that WMM just does not recognize something about it. Can anyone help?? Ultimately I want to take the DVD from the camcorder, convert and shorten the video on it, and then upload it to the web. I don't care what format it is as long as it works and looks half-way decent.

Use another program to edit the video file. I'm afraid that only paid software can do that. There may be trial software. Google around. Paid ones are Cyberlink, Intervideo, Sony Vega, & Adobe Premiere.
