cookies and Google Gmail

I am new to Gmail, but I had it set up and working just fine. I used it a couple of times. I use IE 6.0 and Norton Internet Security 2005 and I run all of the adware/spyware programs advocated on this site.
Suddenly I cannot login to Gmail. I get a screen from Google after login that says
"Your browser's cookie functionality is turned off. Please turn it on."
I have my IE Internet Options set at Medium. In NIS, when I am on the Gmail site, there isn't a checkmark next to Block Cookies on this Site
I am at a loss as to what to do.
Has cCleaner or Ad-Aware deleted the cookie that Gmail is looking for?

Thanks for the reply. But, no luck.
I followed that link and my error message was the first one listed. But my Internet Options - Content Advisor wasn't enabled so I couldn't disable it. And clearing my browser cache, including all offline content, didn't fix it.
Any other ideas????

Well Halo, that didn't do it. I wasn't "blocking pop-ups from this website".
I found a fix for the situation, but I don't like it. I found an FAQ Help on the Gmail site saying to add https://mail.google.com and https://www.google.com to my Trusted Sites, then clear cache and restart IE. This seemed to fix it. But I didn't have them in my Trusted Sites before and Gmail was working. And I don't like having anything in my Trusted Sites (per the spyware/adware discussions I have read in these forums)
