when i try to log into facebook or other sites like that it tells me i must have cookies enabled to log in....so i go to internet options and it shows cookies are enabled. It looks like my browser is mistaken...or my computer is mistaken or whatever. It doesnt matter which browser I use it says the same thing. I'm not a whiz with the computer so I'm looking for someone who may know what the problem is.

I am using Windows xp with service pack three. I generally use use firefox but also have tried ie and google chrome. I get the same message in all three browsers. I use an antivirus and firewall that is part of a security package that I get from sympatico which is my isp. It is called Radialpoint SafeCare Inc.

Hi, I have been having the same problem for a couple of hours now... I use AVG and Zone Alarm but I did not make any updates or change any settings. Like scoobydoo1952 I went in chrome's and IE's internet option and everything is set to accept cookies????

I have now noticed that I can't enter secure sites. Here is what it says when trying to access Gmail:

The site's security certificate has expired!
You attempted to reach www.google.com, but the server presented an expired certificate. No information is available to indicate whether that certificate has been compromised since its expiration. This means Google Chrome cannot guarantee that you are communicating with www.google.com and not an attacker. You should not proceed.

I have reset everything in my security program to recommended but I am still having the problem with cookies not being enabled. It used to work up until the last week or so.

I checked the date and it is the correct one.

    Any suggestions are welcome.

If that had happened to me, I would have restored the computer to a date when it worked.
Everything that was installed or updated would have been written down by me. I'd only do one update, patch or install, reboot and fire up my browser until I discovered what program(s) created the problem.

Since it is about 5 weeks since your December 15th post saying that it worked a week previously, that is pretty far to go back and troubleshoot.

Unfortunately, it sounds like there are a few things wrong with the OS.
What sort of error do you get when you try to use a restore point?

I just tried to system restore to yesterday and it worked. However when I tried to restore to a point in Early December it wouldnt do it, error message said it was not possible at this time, tried a few dates all the same answer.

If I have to start over I am not sure if my original disc works. the last time i tried to use it, it said it was missing a file and I ended up taking it into a repair shop to get it fixed.
