Copy And Pasting Hyperlinks

Hi. This is probably quite a basic issue but your help would be appreciated.

I work with someone producing documents for presentations and they often send me Hyperlinks to put within the document which I produce in InDesign on a Mac. Until recently I had no problem copy & pasting from the word doc into InDesign. Recently his hyperlinks have turned into ‘descriptive’ text (see attachment). Whilst I can open the websites via the link, when I copy & paste it out of the document into Indesign I just get the text and no link.

Some say the latest version has a preference setting on 'clipboard handling'.
Others seem to agree that this is just an annoying bug in the code, that needs fixing?
