I had a computer built at Micro Center everything is fine except when I try to copy and paste the paste does not seem to work. I have tried sandisk PNY and others I was sent to the national help center and put on queue number eleven
There was an error 0x800400 this is from memory and apologize if wrong.

Copy paste seems to work with my docs but not with online to the flash drivee.
    Could you please advise?

Explain "but not with online to the flash drivee" Are you trying to copy from something like OneDrive?

Yes. If I copy one of my Word docs I can paste it into flash drive. BUT if I copy a phrase hilited online I cannot paste it into the flash drive.

IDK what you are trying, copying text from a website and just trying to paste it to a flash drive?
You're saying this works to the PC?
Sooo many questions... do you have a DOC or TXT file open on the flash drive when you try this?
Because you're saying it works on a DOC on the PC, right?
Are you right clicking to select Paste? Is it "greyed" out?

You need to create a file that you can paste data into on the flash drive.

Are you sure the mem error was 0x8000400 and not 0x8000405.

There is not a whole lot of information on 0x8000400.

Even i don't understand what you are trying to do.You need to give us more information in-order to help.

Sounds like you are trying to copy and past a file from a web page. Most web pages make you download the file first than you can copy and past into a flash drive.

I got a great chuckle out of the cartoon. I was disillusioned because when I Googled 'copying content from the web directly to a flash drive' in many places it would say you simply cc then cv onto the flash opened drive .
I got in touch with the person who built my computer and a couple of other people who he was with him and they all confirm what you say. Unless you have word word pad or notepad etc. it cannot be done. If you use You Tube or Google you shouldn't do so unless you know what you are talking about. You need something for the file to be converted and recognized. It won't paste onto the flash drive, + it only makes sense. On the lite side, at 84 I could join the gals in the cartoon. Thanks
P.S. I wonder why I never got a notification. I came here on my own and found the reply in my content.

Thanks, it is a funny meme... but the best app for doing what you are trying is OneNote, I keep a lot of notes from websites in that app, for organizing and searching back through.

Thanks for the referral to OneNote but have to admit I have tried and can't quite get it. I do have an organized file explorer structure upon which I keep two identical flash drive with data important to me. I also have Macrium images I create weekly. If hit and they are not plugged in they are not destroyed or affected by ransomware.

I just wanted to clarify with an example.
I go to the Google news or any site like it. I then highlight a paragraph.I then right click copy. I go to an open flash drive and then right to paste .
Nothing happens but there is the info in the clipboard.
I also tried cc and cv too no avail. If I use notepad or Word it works.
I cannot copy and paste to an open flash drive.
If you can, please tell me what I can do to get this done. I have Windows 11 version 23H2 build 22631 3447
I have flash drives; PNY, San DisK. and used 6 of each.
Finally I used a Samsung portable SSD 500 GB.
