I want to copy a one-page document and send it from my HP 5740 to Outlook email.
Keep winding up with fax send. No fax in system, not sure fax setup possible on cell phone anyway.
How do I copy from printer to Outlook and send as email?
    Thanks in advance

I don't understand. If you sent it to the printer, you must have a copy on your computer. If you have a hard copy, and had the printer scan it, then you need software to convert it into a document on your computer.

Going from your comment, I determined that the printer is connected via WiFi as there is no cable connecting it to computer. There is also a blinking light on the printer adjacent to a WiFi icon. So, I moosed around and found WiFi settings on my computer. I found several, figured which I am using, I think.. System was set up by 3rd party who is no longer in business. And, if i did locate the correct one, they all want a pw which I do not know.

You might find the default password on the side of the printer.

The defaults should just be admin.

You're wanting to scan something and send it in a email? There should be a suite of programs from HP - if you don't have any thing in your programs from HP, go download the 'full feature software' form HP Support & install it. There you'll have a program maybe called "HP toolbox" where you can scan to email.

I believe he has the software, just not the password to access the wifi feature.

@Skysarge - are you sure you have given us the correct model number? According to the online manual the HP5740 is quite an old USB printer, not wireless.

From the printer control panel, touch (Wireless). 2. Touch ( Settings . 3. Touch Wireless Settings. 4. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard. 5. Follow the display instructions to complete the setup.
