I know I can copy them using a DVD recorder/Videocassette player, but can I do it using my computer. A friend told me, I might need a video capture card. Please help.

You need a tuner card with either S Video or RCA jacks so you can hook your VCR to the Computer and a program to convert the information to VOB or MPEG so you can burn it to DVD.
