I installed a new Core 2 Quad into my new Asus P5KC. When booting up I get a message that says the CPU is unrecognized and say press F1. I am still able to boot Vista and use the computer regularly. When I go to game though, I experience horrible FPS. I am currently play Age of Conan on all Low settings I get 5-10fps.

Here is what I am running,

    Asus P5KC
    Core 2 Quad Q9450 2.66Ghz
    GeForce 9800 GTX
    4gb DDR2 PC2-8500 (DDR2-1066)
    500gb Seagate SATA
    650W Antec PS

I have DL and updated all drivers I can think of. I do not know why I am getting such bad performance from this computer. I know that flashing the BIOS is an option but I have never done it and hope to solve this problem with out having to do so. Help me please!

You can check out ASUS site for bios updates. Just google your mobo. Only flash bios if it fixes an issue you're experiencing.

You can try clearing cmos & load defaults in bios.

Oh yeah, is the PCI-E power connector hooked up to the GPU? If the PSU doesn't have one, you can use the bundled power adapter from the GPU.
