Correct Forum for Printer Questions?

I've been having a plethora of problems attempting to install a 2nd-hand Lexmark X1185 AIO/Printer on a six month-old Dell w/Vista Home Basic (thread in software forum) ... I can NOT seem to get it to install (repeated error messages no matter what I do - something about the "spooler" not running??)

Can anyone tell me if I am likely to run into similar problems (more or less?) trying instead to install a six YEAR-old HP deskjet 656c printer on this same PC/OS?

Go to Control Panel\Administrative Tools\Services, make sure Print Spooler is running & set to auto startup type. Create a new admin account & use that to install the printer. You might want to download the latest driver for the printer & Vista from their website.

Vista includes an alternate driver. To use the 656c, you will install the alternate driver deskjet 660c.
