Hubby's computer will not start it says checking array and then we get the error message that the file \Windows|AppPatch|drvmain.sdb is corrupt. Tried to open the computer in safe mode and it won't happen. Do not have the disk for the computer. We have XP on an E Machine. Thanks for your help.

    Hi.

Could you get your hands on a copy of Windows? (the same, i.e. if you have Home, get a copy of Home) If so, boot to the CD, go to Recovery Console, then run the fixboot command.

No, there is no way to get a disk. So I just have to get a new computer? Is there anyway to get personal things off there? Any way to just get a copy of the file and install it if I could find out which folder it goes into? What caused the problem? And thanks for your help.
