Corrupt Jpegs

Hello,



I was wonderign if anyone has any ideas on what to try here...


I have a numer of Jpegs that are now corrupt and i cannot view them, any time i try to the computer hangs. The thumbnails do not appear, or so I thought til I tried to open them using 'Paint' where the thumnails did appear but then Vista once gain froze.


I am basically trying to recover these pics for a friend its his families holiday pics and I don't want to give up on them.


Any help would e very much appreciated, any additional info needed please feel free to ask, thank you very much.

Thanks..took a look give some a try.

I got a hold of Irfanviewer the pics come up in the preview (thumbnails?) on that too but still can't get the image to open without the Comp hanging/crashing.

Not giving up yet though, thanks for the help!

 

I can see how this might hang the computer, but crashing? Maybe safe mode would work better.

 

Yep..still no luck, I am running it in safe mode the entire thing is knackered im doing a clean sweep thats why I need to try to save these holiday snaps..grrr.

Just downloaded a trial of 'Badcopy pro' it has recovered/fixed all the jpegs after 4 days of trying to find something or someway...Just wants $40 to save them, bloody thing haha.

At least now I know they are salvagable, but I'm not paying that for them I'll fnd a way then let people know.

I've not tried this program, so can't say how effective it is but, have you taken a look at TestDisk & PhotoRec 6.12 Beta? Has a 4.94 rating from the 17 people that have voted for it here. Some more information at PhotoRec.
