Windows XP Media Center Edition SP2 - .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 has become corrupt and cannot be uninstalled. There's a couple other .NET versions (2.0 SP2 and 3.0 SP2) on this PC also and they can't be uninstalled either. Is there a .NET uninstaller? Or can I simply reinstall 'over the top' to fix the corruption? Could corrupt .NET Framework cause internet connectivity issues, and problems with not being able to renew the TCP/IP address??

    Thanks!

Not heard of .Net causing connectivity issues but then again depending on the PC setup it could be using an ISPs connection manager thats programmed in .Net.

Run the uninstaller then see if the PC connects ok, also try Safe Mode with Networking, as this could be a malware issue, so do the usual checks.

@ sikvik: thanks for the link! I knew I'd seen an uninstaller here at MG before! LOL I used it to remove all corrupt the .NET installs, but it didn't fix the connectivity issue (I didn't think it would - see below).
@ Halo: I didn't think .NET could cause connectivity problems, and it turns out that the problem was caused by a corrupt McAfee install, which wouldn't uninstall either. I had to use the McAfee Removal Tool to get rid of it. Once McAfee was gone, I could surf OK again.

    THANKS!

(Yeah, I know everyone is thinking "what's up with so much corrupt software on this PC?". I don't know. But other than the corrupt .NET installs and the McAfee, everything else seems OK, so far)
    *fingers crossed*

You can remove it from Windows 7

As a result, I think that windows update, at least if you are running Win 7, does not require you to use IE to get the updates. So simply disabling it should also not hinder windows updates.
