On a restart my Kaspersky data base came up bad. I was unable to reload the database so I ran Adaware and spybot back to back and removed 25- 30 items between the two. On the restart my pointer no longer worked. In the device manager I found the driver had the yellow caution symbol next to it. I managed to uninstall and re-install the driver but ended with the same result (this is a pain with only tab/arrow keys/Esc/Enter) Not sure how to proceed from here, HELP

Your post is confusing. The title seems to indicate you need a synaptic device drive but your thread talks about a security program, Kaspersky.

You first need to let people know: brand and model of computer and also version of windows you are running.
It would also help if you mentioned exactly what Kaspersky program you are running.

Sorry, life happened in the middle of my first post and didnt want to double post with the remainder of the information.

Dell Inspiron E1705 running Windows XP Media Center Adition 2005 Version: 5.1.2715.3011(xpsp(wmbla).061009-1511) Update Rollup2

Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 Version 9.0.0.736

To clarify, The issue with Kaspersky Black list corruption and not being able to update the data base promted me to run adaware and spybot after which the touchpad would not respond. This may actually be a malware issue but not having use of the touchpad and the error in the touchpad driver made me decide to start in this forum. I also tried to hook a USB mouse up to the laptop and it made the audible but no prompts to add the new hardware noe was it seen when searched for.

A link to a list of key commands to get around without a pointer/mouse would be very much appreciated as well.

also have been getting a RUNDLL Error in C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\DRIVERS\W32x86\3\DLCFtime.dll Missing entry:RunDLLEntry error for aabout 4 months but "ok" past it and never seemed to affect anything

Hope this post is better, Thanks in advance, Ace

Truthfully since Internet Security 2012 is out, 2010 might no longer be supported - that is no more database updates available.

That has to do with a printer.

So you attached a mouse and did not have the use of that either? No touchpad and no mouse so you are stuck with just keyboard input?

This is the page with all the drivers for XP on an Inspiron E1705
