Corrupted pdf file

Hey im wondering if anyone can help me here, I've got a client whos created a pdf document on a mac and it became corrupted on his mac with all these strange characters. I've attached a picture showing this. I transferred the document onto my windows PC running windows 7 home premium 64bit, Did some research & downloaded " Stellar Phoenix PDF recovery " it took awhile to perform the scan and it did improve it slightly but its still corrupted. Now when I open the document I get an error message that wasn't coming up before im hoping this msg will bring some light into the situation.

The easiest way to resolve this would be to get the source document that was used to create the PDF document and re-create it. Is that possible in this case? In other words, can the original source document be retrieved?

 

It cant be retrieved the client didn't do a back up! and its a book his publishing...
