I replaced the hard drive in one of our client's computers (bad sectors) and I copied the data to the new hard drive. There is a text file for an address book that shows as being 43kb in size, so I know that it is not blank, but when I open it it appears to be blank. I can highlight numerous characters that seem to be hidden, but I can't view them. If I copy the data into word, then every character is a rectangle. Is there any way to recover this file?

First make a copy of the file. Then download the portable version of HxD Hex Editor. Open the txt file. Click View>Visible columns>text. You may be able to see some of the text that is recoverable.
