I don't know anything about duel channel or tri channel ram i just wanna get 8 gigs of it. because i know that when gaming, lots of ram means smoother gameplay. when i got to tiger direct is says do you want duel or tri. couldn't i just get 8 gigs so 4 two gig sticks. so would i get two sets of duel cause that would be 4 each and if i got one tri it would be six. cause i'm looking to run crysis on the highest settings and the rem i will be getting is 8 gigs of DDR3.

the mother board accepts 2 gigs per slot and it had 4 slots and the CPU will be a intel core 2 quad Q6700

    and the mother board is

also i just want to double check but will that CPU work with the mother board?
and do you need a certain type of cpu to use DDR3 ram?

The motherboard you linked to does not have triple channel memory. It has dual channel DDR3. It will only use DDR3, it will not accept any other type of memory. Yes, you could in theory install 2 sticks of 4gb each, but these would be ridiculously expensive, four 2gb sticks would be cheaper. However, if you are not running a 64bit operating system, anything over 3.5gb of memory will remain unused and un-addressed, basically, it will be wasted. A 64bit operating system can use as much memory as the motherboard can acommodate, in your scenario, up to and over 8gb. Yes, the CPU linked to above will work in the motherboard listed above. Check this link for a complete list of CPUs supported by the Intel DP45SG motherboard.

could you recommend 8 gigs of DDR3 ram from tiger direct?

because DDR3 ram is very expensive and i would not like buy ram that is cheesy or will die. my mother board is a Intel DP45SG Motherboard RAM Bundle - OCZ Extreme PC10600 2GB DDR3 1333MHz Memory (2 x 1024MB) per slot, Intel P45, Socket 775, ATX Motherboard.

dude why would you need/want 8GB DD3 RAM?!?!?
You can easily run Crysis on high with 4gb ddr2 all you need is this or 2GB DDR3 and a high range graphics card and quad core processor.

Bragging rights of course. . . :p JK I run ALOT of stuff all the time.
BuT could i just hypothetically order two duel channel sets? to get 8 gig cause i want to get at least 6 gigs but on tiger the only sell them 1 gig a stick and i only have four slots so could you tell me what i could buy off of tiger D? so i could get 6 or 8 gigs of DDR3 ram?:wave

You could get 6GB or 8BG, but if you install three modules in that board it will run in single channel. It can't run tri-channel, and that means that if you try to make it, it will revert to single channel.

And to run Crysis on max settings, you need 4GB DDR2-800, a 3.0GHz dual-core CPU, and then pair them with a couple of 8800 GT cards in SLI. The game's two years old, which means you don't need today's cutting edge hardware to max it out. You need what was cutting edge back then. ;)
