Counter-Strike problems

Ok heres the deal. I recently updated steam (because steam sucks and makes u update atleaste twice a week) and now i get terrible choke and my in and out suck. I use the net graph and my choke is in the 80's and 90's and the in and out are also up there. I already checked my rate cl_latency cl_updaterate and cl_cmdrate and there all fine whats the deal. Also my ping is fine. I have like 160, which is pretty good for 56k. Whats going on?

 

I realized something else. When i'm not doing anything at all. Not using my internet at all, the little icon in the cornor says my network connection is full being utilized both up and down stream. Whats with that? I've turned off auto updates for the mean time because i don't wanna download sp2 since its so big (i'll wait till i get cable in a month to dl it.) Still my network connection is being full utilized. I can only guess there is something in the backgroud i can't see thats doing this. What should i do?

 

If you have a good firewall then you can use that to see what application is using your connection-bandwidth.

Else try CurrPorts to see what applications have created network connections. And hopefully the sinner will reveal itself.

 

well i'm not quite sure what happen but everything is working fine today. I used spybot and everything seems fine now (it found 55 things.) I should've checked before using spybot to still see if I had the problem. O well, its working now so its all good. Thanks for your help snake. And that currports thing is awesome. Getting a firewall was my next idea, just so i could see what programs were doing what. I'll be deffinently be downloading the sygate firewall once i get broadband but i don't think anyone will be trying to hack my 56k any time soon.
