    Hey all:

    Can anyone answer these, please?

    1. After having removed the recycle bin from the desktop, is it possible to configure the OS to no longer confirm deletions? OTHER THAN through Group Policy and excluding "holding <shift>."

    2. Does anyone (please) know how/where to configure the permanent, be-all/end-all default desktop background (wallpaper) POSITION? To set it to either tile, center, stretch and have it actually REMAIN at that setting unless changed?

    3. Does anyone (please) know how/where to configure the permanent, be-all/end-all default system SOUND SCHEME in such a way that it can't be changed simply by changing some characteristic of the visual style?

    Thanks in advance.

    1. Right-click the Recycle Bin, Properties, then uncheck "Display delete confirmation dialog".

2 and 3 I'm still trying to get my head around.

For 2 and 3 a Mandatory profile would do it, but Users would not be able to make any changes once set. You change the Ntuser.dat to Ntuser.man. Mandatory profiles cannot be local, only Roaming.

Aye... I was asking "after having already removed the recycle bin from the desktop... "

Unfortunately, that would defeat my purpose. I use a dual monitor setup to work at home and I use StyleXP and change the look and feel of the work environment a LOT. I also create a lot of wallpaper... So, each time I want to change the wallpaper I have to get into the display settings and set the desktop to "tile" so the image will properly span both monitors. This is no big deal, of course, unless you like to create wallpaper and change it 50X a day.

The sound scheme is a similar problem. I have a "speedy" sound scheme with no startup or shutdown or any other "gratuitous" bleeps because I believe they can slow down the boot/shut down process. Well, Style XP seems to believe that every wallpaper or icon set, etc. has its own sound scheme becuase it resets it to the default, Windows Scheme every time even the smallest change is made the the app.

Just annoyances I've gathered. Thanks for the replies.

I never said right-click the desktop icon.

Use Windows Explorer, find the Recycle Bin, and follow the same steps.

Yeah, I thought I was going to have to restore the bin... I removed it from the shell as well. I guess I should have specified that the message I'm trying to stop is "are you sure you want to delete ____ file?"
