Looking at the back, on the right top..........just above the right side of the rear COA sticker, you'll see a lever. The lip that's on the top cover, hides the lever when it's on. You pull that lever hard, and it unlatches the top of the side panel. Then just lift it off.
If you need any more help with that particular machine, let me know. I have one I use specificly as my gaming machine.

If you're going to be doing any mods or upgrades in the RX650, There's just one important thing I want to point out to you.
If you ever upgrade/replace the processor fan......the fan MUST be installed so it's sucking air away from the heat sink, NOT blowing into the heatsink like the majority of computers.
The reason is, the proximity of the huge 5 inch fan in the power supply. It's exausting OUT of the case, and is located right over the processor fan.
If you put the processor fan so it blowing in, it will be fighting against the power supply fan, and significantly raise the processor temperature.
But the way they have it set up from the factory, with the huge power supply fan, really does an outstanding job of cooling the entire system.

If you look at the front of the case, you'll see 5 slots running down each side of the panel that houses the power button. Those slots are air intakes. Because of the way the harddrive is mounted, those intakes provide a constant fresh air flow over the harddrive, keeping it cool.

While it's very cramped inside the case, it was designed very well. But then again, you can tell the quality just by the weight of the tower!

Thanks for the heads up. I was just putting in a Recordable DVD player, but was going to upgrade soon.

    Hello,

I want to replace the dvd on my PCV-RX650 but don't know how to get the old one out. I know how to take off the left side (looking at front) but from there I am stumped. I have the System Ref. Manual. It is good but no mention of how to remove the old dvd. Any info you can provide wil be greately appreciated.

    I FIGURED IT OUT.

Thnx to anyone whe may have been tryign to help. There are tabs used to hold the front bezel in place. The bezel must be removed to take out the cd and/or dvd drive. There is a lower section and an upper section to the bezel. One can get to these after removing the left side (looking at the front). After that I removed the "cage" holding the hard drive(s). Then removed the screw holding the power supply in place to allow it to be moved out of the way prior to removing the 3-1/4 inch floppy drive.

It was necessary to remove the floppy drive in order to get to the lower left tab (looking from the back) for the upper part of the bezel. Maybe it was only necessary to remove the upper part of the bezel but all the other hardware had to come out to get to that last tab.

The top also had to come off. Once the upper part of the front bezel was removed it was only necessary to push up on the two tabs in the back (of the top) and then gently tap on the front. This forced the top back so it could be lifted off.

BTW, it is not necessary to remove the right side like I thought.
