This is because all the data on the hard drive was migrated from a different PC, meaning that the Windows is set up for completely different hardware. You cannot simply swap out all the hardware and expect Windows to boot up as it did before. Windows has a way of 'bonding' with hardware, and if all the parts are suddenly swapped out (this is esp true with swapping out motherboards), Windows says "WHAAAAA?!?!?!" and craps out. For best results, you should perform a format on the HD, then install clean Windows. Once all the new drivers are installed, you can copy your data over from the old drive, but you cannot copy over programs and expect them to run, only data like pictures, documents, music etc, will successfully copy over and function. If you want to keep all the software and programs intact and functional, you'll need to perform a safe repair install of XP using your Windows installation disc. Read this article and follow the steps exactly to perform a safe repair install of Windows. 90% of the time, repair installs work fine and everything will be intact and functional. Occasionally (usually due to faulty/corrupt user profile information), Windows will install but all your shortcuts, personal settings, etc, will be gone. All the programs will still be there but won't run, but this is fairly uncommon. When the repair install goes smoothly, you should have no problems with getting your old Windows to run with the new hardware. Good luck!

Migrate easy is meant to transfer everything from one hard drive, a, to another, b, and put hard drive "b" back into the computer that "a" was removed from. It is useful when you have a small or nearly full hd and want more room so you purchase a much larger hd for your computer. It was never intended to be used to install windows and programs on a different computer.
