How does a socket AM2 Sempron LE1100 compare to a socket 478 Celeron 2.60ghz??? I think the Sempron runs at 1.90ghz... would the Sempron be an upgrade (on a different mobo of course), or about the same, or a lesser CPU? A friend has a chance to pick up the Sempron LE1100, 1gb DDR2, and a mobo for a real good price and needs to know if it's going to perform better than or equal to his old Celeron....
    Thanks!

AMD and Intel's budget CPUs are the Sempron and Celeron, respectively, so I doubt the difference between the two would be noticeable. However, with the AM2 setup he will have the choice to upgrade to a newer processor eventually. He also gets to run DDR2 as opposed to DDR that 478 uses. I'd go with the AMD

Yup. That's what I thought too. He got the whole thing (CPU, mobo, 1gb DDR2-533) for only $80.00 plus tax.... about $85 and some change. Helluva deal. Plus there's a PCIX slot for future video upgrades.... He's already got his eye on a 5000+ X2 upgrade and an 8600GTS Geforce ;)
