For those of you in the market for a quality heat sink for your CPU, check this link out. It reviews several mid to high-end coolers available during the first quarter of 2008. I'm kind of in the market for a new CPU cooler, and thought that maybe some others would appreciate this article. Besides, I have no life, and I like reading about this kind of stuff.

I find the heat pipe design of most of those coolers a little depressing since I like to polish my heatsinks to a mirror finish for perfectly flat and level contact. The designs of all but one of those coolers left deep grooves between the pipes and the actual sink. I don't like that at all.

Yeah, I was wondering about the grooves myself. If I remember correctly, they do talk about it in the reviews. It seems to me that they could do the first flattening/polishing cyce, fill the grooves with some type of thermally conductive substance (maybe use copper 'solder' or something), then do another final polishing cycle to make the contact surface perfectly smooth.
