CPU Temperature and FAN!

Good day!

I have a computer with a new CPU fan and cooler, it's freezing every now and then. I checked the PC Health Status and was surprised to find out that the temperature of the CPU was 90 degrees!

I changed the CPU fan and cooler for the same reason, but how could this be right? Isn't it possible that the reporting is wrong?

Absolutely. Try using a couple of different system monitors and compare the figures. Chances are, you motherboard manufacturer has a program for this as a free download at their web site. You can also use HWMonitor (my personal favorite) and/or PCWizard (see screenshot below). Many people like SpeedFan too, but I'm not real fond of it; in my experience, it hasn't been real accurate, but some folks swear by it. Anyway, use two or three different monitoring apps and compare the results. For example: PCWizard reports my CPU temp as 42c in one area, but as 35c in a different area, but HWMonitor reports it as 28c/35c (Core 0/Core 1), and the 42c is TEMP0 in HWMonitor. So different programs label things differently, so compare the different programs. If you're unsure of what you're looking at, post some screen shots here and we'll do our best to help.

(PCWizard is reporting my Aux fan at 10rpm, but I don't have an Aux fan; I think it's probably a minimum reading displayed by PCwizard and that it doesn't display zero on a non-connected fan header)

 

Thank you very much dlb, I only used PC Health Status and H/W Monitor that came inside the BIOS, I really should try other applications.

I'll download what you recommended and test them to see the changes...
