I have a high cpu usage 100% problem.
However mine started happening after I did the first step of how to remove malware via using SAS SuperAntiSpyware, the machine got very very slow. First hint was it would take forever to get to the login screen. I am confident that my machine is clean (I followed the same procedure on a W2k machine and the machine is now clean). Also some other scans are indicating my troubled machine is clean.
I have followed all the steps HOW TO REMOVA MALWARE and no malware is in my machine. My first impression was there still exists a malware and was not detected but re run of various malware removal tools incdicates otherwise.
    Win XP SP3
    AMD 2600+
    1.25GB RAM
My thread is located under syspools and other *.t
My help on the malware side indicated this could draw some attention
    on the software thread!
I am not running any TSRs except SAS per my mentor's suggestion in the other thread!

    Thanks:cry

    Use http://www.majorgeeks.com/Startup_CPL_d619.html to restrict

    1)Adobe 2)CloneCd 3) Quicktime 4)Nero

Should take care of a couple of the processes in you TM with high usage.
As to why these are hogging Cpu is beyond me. As MarkTrent mentioned most of your start up are not needed. In fact I would do away with all of them.

The one thing I would like to have seen in your start up is an Anti Virus and it's not there!!! If my eyes have served me well LOL

I have removed everything and only after removing everything the CPU usage is lowered however the first application I launch it clocks it to 100% and makes it stay there
It still takes forever to get to the login page

    Thanks

It appears my problem is Adobe

However it will still take about 10min. before it gets to the login screen!
    This part still puzzles me.

I did try to launch Adobve and it immediately takes off to 100% and stays there while the software never actually starts working

My picture editing software is Adobe if that one is not launched I can not produce effecient screen shots. As mentioned above it gets locked after making an attempt to launch Adobe.

I am seriously considering redoing the OS however I am looking for advice on where to retreive the archived downloaded updates so after reinstallation I can save some times by launching them locally as opposed to downloading them

    Thanks
