I have an Asus P5PE-VM mobo with the 865G chipset. The CPU is an Intel Celeron D 331 with 533 mhz FSB. I have one stick of 512 MB Corsair DDR 400 RAM.

The BIOS is reporting the RAM speed at 333 mhz rather than 400 mhz. Asus says that this is normal for when using the 533 FSB processor.

Is this true? I am pretty sure that the previous board I tried (ECS board, same chipset) reported at 400 mhz.

I don't really care about speed per se, but just stability.

I have seen this on motherboards, before, Asus should know.

Well, let's just say that my experience (today) with Asus support left much to be deisired and I do not feel very confident in the answers I as given. That is why i decided to ask around.

Usually, when you ask motherboard support, they have had this question crop up, and if their technitions are wrong, we are all in trouble.
I would take their word for it, but you never know, someone might have different information, but as far as I have seen, it appears correct.
