crapping in your cornflakes

I was lead to believe that "The Lounge" was an off-topic forum...more or less dedicated to "general" coversation. In this spirit I`ve generally tried to just shoot my mouth off in any direction...on any topic...generally accompanied by a "I don`t mean to offend but here it is" disclaimer. In that spirit...I WILL continue to participate in the same mode...as only once have I actually heard from a member that I had offended...and QUICKLY offered an apology then. If I DO in fact offend...and I HAVE offered this before...PLEASE let ME know(not someone else) and I will offer an explanation and an apology as promptly as possible. It is not my aim to be crapping in ones cornflakes, but as this IS the 21st century...certain ancient and archaic political ideals are...shall we say....passe?

alright who's been picking on sassy lol no one on here has ever offended me. but sometimes i wish someone would. i think we may need a adult forum that is locked and can only access by password and being 18 or older



(p.s.) i am not talking about a p0rn forum i am talking about one where you can talk open with out worrying about such words that will get you banned and whatnot

 

I Googled "Crap in my Corn Flakes" I was suprised to see 5,320 links.

If someone poops your corn flakes you can use the Ignor feature here at MG it's located in the "User CP" page

JK, Thanks for the disclaimer. I thought the lounge was free reign as well, and if they don't have an open mind, They have the right to log off or stay in the help forums.

Well I've already been cowed into walking on eggshells, I don't know if this is a testament to how risque my humor is or how uptight certain people here are, but "free reign" isn't one of the ways I'd describe the lounge. My personal opinion is that there are a lot of people who are desperate to be offended and seek out any opportunity to be so..online or off.

 

As you can't just let this go as requested and continue to place me in an awkward position I'll first respond to the above quote. No you won't.

MajorGeeks is a business first and foremost. The lounge is only here so that those who want off topic discussions keep said topics out of the tech forums. All 'off' topics are not permissible ie: warez, etc. and free speech doesn't enter into it so don't even go there. Generally speaking, political and religious topics are touchy especially with those who stand so firm in their beliefs, more so when they repeatedly shoot off their mouths and figure I apologize if I offend will excuse potentially rude, inaccurate and disrespectful comments. It doesn't. More often than not, we have to intervene with political/religious discussions, it's the nature of the beast. There are many, many forums out there that deal specifically with these topics. MajorGeeks 'tech' forum is not one of them. We actually prefer to NOT see discussions like this at all b/c they have a history of blowing up and then we have to step in BUT, we do let them go to a certain point as long as no one is being holier than thou and offending.

The owners of this site have final say and those of us that are admins/mods follow the guidelines established by them in order to help keep the business running smoothly. This includes but is not limited to addressing situations as they arise, editing posts, acting as a go between when necessary and dealing with reported (confidential) posts as they come in. Sometimes reported posts are deleted, sometimes edited, sometimes there is no action taken...each report is assessed individually to see where it fits or doesn't fit within the guidelines established here.

While the average age of members here is in the 30's (IIRC), we also have members as young as 12, and from all over the world. So factor all that in and you have a very wide range of religious and political beliefs so being open minded, tactful, respectful and considerate in replies is essential. There is no right or wrong as far as beliefs go. We were all raised differently, we haven't walked in each others shoes for a lifetime so not one of us here has the right to judge the other or condemn anyone else for their political/religious beliefs. We may not agree with what someone else believes but that doesn't give us the right to cut down their beliefs, culture or way of life.

You want to have a pissing match over this we will but it will NOT be dealt with in the forum, call, email me or reply to the PM I sent you. The forum guidelines stand per the owners of this site and I will not sit back and have you or anyone else undermining this forum and it's admins/mods like this. Nor will I or any of the other team members stand for members repeatedly being offended.
