    some background:
i got my connection in october of last year.
after about a month of testing my download speed i discovered i wasn't coming close to the 186 KB/s speed offered by my ISP.
i called them at tech support. the guy that installed my equipment answered the phone and i explained the situation.
within a week of the call i started getting speeds of 33 times dialup.
i took a screenshot of my best download time and sent it to my ISP.
within a week of doing so my speed has dropped down to where it is now and has remained there.

i have called my ISP numerous times since and they keep telling me i have a virus.
they gave me a couple of links to test my pc. the first link found a couple of trojans and 2 adwares which i removed. the second link was a virus scanner which found no objects. after removing the adware/trojans my speed remains the same. can anybody here explain to me what's going on with my connection?

    connection details:
transmitted by wireless to my house.
    converted to ethernet.
run through a router then to my pc
    it's supposed to be a 186 KB/s connection

    the links i refered to:
    http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx
    http://housecall65.trendmicro.com/
the first is the virus scanner
    the second found the trojans

Run this scan and follow the directions ...if it finds something attach the file:

Bitdefender agree to the license and then select Scan. DO NOT CHANGE THE OPTIONS TO SHOW ALL FILES SCANNED. That will make your logs huge and we don't need to see clean files. Once Bitdefender completes the scan:

Click-on the Detected Problems tab. Then select Click here to export the scan report

When the window comes up to save the report, change the Save as type: box to Text (Tab Delimited) (*.txt) and then in the File name box enter change to bdscan then click save. This will save a file named bdscan.txt in whatever folder you are currently in when you save the file (take notice of where you are at so you can find it later). This bdcan.txt file will actually contain HTML code that we can easily view later while reviewing your log. All we have to do is rename the file to bdscan.html.
