I have always had this idea and i am just wondering if it would work. I want to get my hands on a old small airconditioner and blow the cold air into the case. Can any of you guys think of major problems besides sound. Because i can fix the sound issue. I have just always wanted to cool my case and inards with something other than water or fans. And becase i have three computers in one room it gets hot right now and i am running my cpu at 62 C. I have a athlon 2400xp running at standard 2 Ghz. I have two hard drive a ti 4600 vid and 512 ram. SO it heats up in my case. Any other ideas for cool cooling that doesn't cost an arm and a leg

Want to be careful if youre pumping cold air into the case generally about condensation. Cold metal/PCBs warm air you dont want anything shorting out.

ya i am trying to figure out a way to fix that. I was thinking if you open up a fridge there is hardly any condensation right. Also when you turn on your air conditioner in your car, condensation doesn’t form on the car. Condensation will form when hot air meets cold air without circulation. And in your normal system there is at least one in take and one out take fan. And if you add another intake fan that blows in super cold air, and reverse the first intake fan to make it blow air out you would have two outtake fans in the back and one intake that is pumping in cold air. Know if you could constantly pump cold air in and constantly pump the air out the other side of the case do you think there would be any problems that way.

    We been here before...
Make a duct to and from your computer so the air recirculates.
Be sure the A/C condensor has a drain to get rid of the moisture.
You want a closed loop system so the air dries out.
Run the A/C for a day before booting the computer.

Yes, it works well, but set the temperature so the A/C unit does not cycle, like 60 degrees or so. If the A/C cycles there is a chance for warmer air to hit the MB when it is cool and you get condensation.

Depends, if its from an old car or somthing like that you could probably "hot rod" it to the top of the case, or somtihng like that, or have a duct coming in from an AC vent in the wall. Course, in the UK hardly any of us have AC in our houses, why on earth would we want that its always so bloody cold here!

My desk has an empty cabinate and i am going to but the ac unit in there, and then have an air duct going from the ac unit to the case and then have the air blown out the back of the case. And just have the air duct attach to the side of the case so when ever i wanted to go to a lan party i just wouldn't have to bring the ac unit.

Moving a computer without its cooling is always a problem. I host LAN parties all the time on a small scale. Those that have extra cooling at home usually have problems when the room heats up to 75 degrees F.
If you go the removable route you will need to double test your overclocks to see what is stable when the A/C is removed.

I still suggest a dual vent system, one in the side from your A/C unit the other out the top to the A/C inlet. It is the only way to prevent condensation. Even then you have to watch your temperatures so the A/C does not cycle too wildly allowing warm air to hit a cold motherboard.

i see what our saing but right now i have no ovreclocking and everything is stable, and thats how i would leave it. I have had problems overclocking and don't really want to do it again

OK, with no overclock you can move it easily.

You have not mentioned a solution to the following scenario:
    1) start A/C
    2) start computer
    3) computer running perfectly at 32C on the CPU under load
    4) program has run, sitting at the desktop, CPU on unemployment
    5) A/C cycles off due to lack of load
    8) warm air enters the case as the A/C takes a second to turn on and start chilling the air
    9) condensation on the MB
    10) what is that burning smell?

This is not idle speculation, my work lost two computers before I figured out what was happening. Now we set the A/C to 45C and have a closed loop. We are very careful to seal all air leaks. Granted these are industrial control units, but the principle is the same.
