Crazy find

ok, so I go and pick up some old computer equipent. In with the stuff is a silver official looking case, with some stenciling on it, definitly military. Open it up, it's a mini tape unit with it's own internal battery supply circa 1964. The stencil on the top says 350th psyop co, it's serial number 20. Now all I've got to do is tear it apart and make it work again. luckily it still has the government tech manuals with it, dated 31 march 1964. Full schematics, only scary part is that the power circuit has a tube in it, I hope it isn't bad. Finding a tube may be a heaadache. just thought I'd see if anyone around here knew anything about it. It came with a few tapes, I want to make ti work and see what's happening there.

freaky, if its from the government who knows what it could be. if they keep it on a tape it could be important.

 

I believe Radio Shack,,,can still order Vacume Tudes, By special order,,or try a HAM radio shop,,the old Yausu Ham radios, and tube amplifiers use tubes that need replacing,,so they SHOULD have a catalog, Glenn

 

Old tubes are a pain. I was trying to fix a big amp a while ago, which had a borked tube. I couldn't find a single retailer who even had it or could buy one for me. I ended up having to ask the manufacturer to give me out out of their backstock myself! Cost a goddam fortune!
