Creating a Windows boot disc for a new laptop.

I have an ASUS X75VD laptop. The laptop came with Win8 64-bit pre-installed. It did not come with a physical Win8 installation disc. I want to burn recovery DVDs (my understanding is that these are the recovery partitions that allow you to 'format' and go back to factory settings). From some googling, I've learned that ASUS does not (on its newer Win8 machines) provide its own tool for doing so.

How can I create a Windows 8 'recovery' DVD? My goal is to use it to restore the laptop to its Win8 factory settings, in the case of some issue (E.G., A virus or drive replacement).

I would prefer to do this with DVDs, as opposed to a USB device. I am strapped for cash and free time and I already have lots of blank DVDs. I have USB devices, but both are already holding needed data (so you don't think I'm that cheap).

    Thanks.

The tool is on the Windows 8 machine. It would be under a directory labeled, or under Tools & Recovery. As for your searches, forget what you saw if you used Googled. If you really want to know about that acer machine, go to http://www.support.acer.com. Stop using Search engines which have Skewed results to begin with.

Thanks, that worked, bownizs. I created a Win8 recovery DVD. However, I was also given the option of using a 20GB(+) storage device to backup. Will that backup the recovery partitions which the recovery DVD did not? It is my understanding that the recovery DVD I just created relies entirely on the files in those recovery partitions.

As I said, I have two USB storage devices, but each are holding data. I created the recovery boot disc, because I had blank DVDs lying around, so it was convenient at the time.

I am considering another option. Since I have a legally purchased Win8 key, I would like to download the legal copy of Win8 from Microsoft's website. In my situation, where my 'copy' of Win8 came pre-installed and requires these partitions, would the Win8 download from Microsoft's website give me any issues in the installation process? Do I have anything less than a purchased, complete, and legal copy of Win8 64bit?

My question is: Since my laptop's copy of Win8 came pre-installed on and requires a recovery partition (my understanding is that it auto installs some ASUS software as well), will I run into any issues if I use its Win8 license key with the downloadable copy of Win8 from Microsoft's site?

Actually not. Unless it is a Full blown version of Windows 8, not the "Upgrade" edition, the key is only going to be good if you have Full Windows.

As for the backup of the user files, it will allow you to recover if you have to do a blow away and reinstall on the machine, or you can do a Full Image backup. Windows backup is not as good as Acronis though.
